All-On-Six Treatments

What Is All-on-6?

All-on-6 is an advanced full-arch restoration technique that supports a fixed prosthesis on six dental implants. By distributing chewing forces across more implants than traditional “all-on-4” protocols, it offers enhanced stability, especially for patients with moderate bone loss.

Key Benefits

  • Immediate Function: Walk out of your appointment with a provisional bridge, allowing you to eat and speak normally from day one.

  • Improved Bone Health: Six implants stimulate the jawbone, reducing resorption and preserving facial structure.

  • Optimal Load Distribution: More implants mean less stress per implant and greater long‐term predictability.

  • Natural Appearance: Custom-designed prostheses mimic the look, feel, and contour of real teeth.

  • Simplified Maintenance: A single, fixed arch is easier to clean than multiple individual implants or removable dentures.

The Treatment Process

  1. Comprehensive Assessment

    • 3D CBCT imaging and digital smile design

    • Evaluation of bone volume, soft tissues, and occlusion

  2. Surgical Placement

    • Guided surgery to place six titanium implants per arch

    • Immediate loading with a provisional fixed bridge

  3. Healing Phase

    • 3–4 months of osseointegration (implant-bone fusion)

    • Soft-tissue management for optimal gingival contours

  4. Definitive Prosthesis

    • Precision-milled titanium framework with acrylic or zirconia overlay

    • Final shade-matching and bite verification

Who Is a Candidate?

  • Patients missing most or all teeth in the upper, lower, or both arches

  • Individuals dissatisfied with conventional dentures

  • Those with sufficient bone volume or candidates for minor grafting

  • People seeking a durable, fixed alternative to removable prostheses

Aftercare & Maintenance

  • Brush and floss the prosthesis daily, using interdental brushes under the arch

  • Attend biannual check-ups for professional cleaning and implant monitoring

  • Avoid hard, sticky foods during the first 2–3 months of healing

  • Maintain overall health—good nutrition and no smoking—for implant longevity

What is the All-on-Six Implant Technique?

The All-on-Six implant technique is performed much faster than traditional dental implants. In classical implant treatments, after the implant is placed into the jawbone, a waiting period of about 3 months is required. In the All-on-Six implant technique, however, temporary fixed teeth are placed immediately after the implants are inserted.

Compared to All-on-Four implants, All-on-Six implants provide a more balanced distribution of force on the jawbone since more implants are used. Both techniques are applied to patients who have lost all of their teeth.

In the All-on-Six technique, titanium screws are placed into the jawbone. These titanium screws are positioned at nearly equal distances, ensuring that the jaw has the strength it needs. The crown parts are usually made of porcelain or zirconium.

Essentially, the All-on-Six implant is a type of implant-supported denture. While in classical treatments one implant is planned for each missing tooth, in this method, six implants are placed per jaw. The main goal is to provide extra support and achieve maximum efficiency from the prosthesis.

The image illustrates the All-on-Six implant technique. Six titanium implants are placed into the jawbone and secured from above, providing stable support for a fixed prosthesis. This method offers a durable and natural-looking solution for patients with complete tooth loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the All-on-six procedure take?

With proper care and regular checks, it can last 15–20 years or more.

Is the surgery painful?

Local anesthesia and, if desired, sedation ensure a comfortable experience. Post-op discomfort is managed with prescribed analgesics.

What is the success rate?

All-on-six implants boast over a 95% long-term success rate when proper planning and maintenance protocols are followed.

How long is the life of the permanent All-on-six prosthesis?

With proper care and regular checks, it can last 15–20 years or more.

Is a bone graft required for All-on-six?

No; most of the time, planning is done according to the existing bone. If insufficient bone is detected, a small graft can be recommended.
